I’m sure you know that early morning delightful sounds of silence when you don’t really have to do anything. The pleasant lazy pace, the low light, birds starting to chirp, the first beams of sun, their warming touch. The sort of peace and hope filling heart and soul. It was months before the invasion of Russia when I met Kate Kondratieva, a fabulous artist and photographer who came to Italy from Kiev. She was on a very personal journey, touching the depths of her heart, exploring Venice, but above all rediscovering herself. Let the portraits of her speak themselves. Let it be a speech and cry for love, peace and freedom.

What are your superpowers? I’m Ukrainian, currently changing history and learning life anew – said Kate when we met again just a few weeks after the invasion started. This time she arrived in Italy to take a breath and understand what Ukrainians are fighting for. 

Regardless of what your idea of coming to Venice is, I reassure you that this city won’t leave you indifferent. Its charms will surprise you or inspire, driving your passion. Its sounds and scents may turn out healing. The endless maze of the Venetian alleys could help you find the right way. Just open up. This is Venice, an infinite source of inspiration.
